UPCOMING COOKING CLASSES

 

1/27 (Sat) – 9:30–11:30am – Parent-Child Pasta

Location: St. Mark’s.  Class Cost: $75 per parent-child pair (each additional child is $35).

What a great way to spend a cold winter Saturday morning with your child, grandchild or special friend.  Learn the techniques of making Fresh Egg Pasta and rolling it out using a pasta machine.  Fresh pasta sheets will then be used to make cheese raviolis as well as Angel Hair and Fettuccine Pastas.  Alfredo Sauce and Marinara Sauce will also be prepared in class to taste with the pasta.

2/9 (Fri) – 5:30-8pm – Parent-Teen Pasta

Parents – enjoy this time with your teen as you learn to cook both fresh and dried pasta, as well as a variety of sauces to complement specific shapes.  You will make fresh egg pasta dough by hand, then roll, cut it into several different shapes, and use it. On the menu: Fettucuni Alfredo (fetuccini with cream and cheese);  Orecchiette (‘little ear’ pasta) with Sausage and Peppers;  Pappardelle (wide ribbon pasta) with Spinach and Ricotta;  Cheese-Filled Ravioli; and Spaghetti with Cacio e Pepe (minimalist cheese and mixed cracked pepper).  Location: St. Mark’s.  Class Cost: $80 per parent-teen pair (each additional teen is $40).

3/17 (Sat) – 9:30–11:30am – Parent-Child Donuts

Location: St. Mark’s.  Class Cost: $75 per parent-child pair (each additional child is $35).

What a great way to spend a Saturday morning–making (and eating) Donuts with a special child!  You will be making Yeast Donuts as well as tasting Cake Donuts.  Pairs will prepare the yeast dough, then fry donuts to take with and share (or not!).  Cinnamon Sugar Donuts and Just Plain Good Donuts are on the menu.

4/28 (Sat) – 9:30–11:30am – Parent-Child Tarts

Location: St. Mark’s.  Class Cost: $75 per parent-child pair (each additional child is $35).

Learn to make a variety of delicious sweet and savory tarts with your child, grandchild or special friend on this early spring Saturday morning!  Participants will work with Phyllo Dough, Puff Pastry, as well as Chef Joel’s favorite Tart Dough to make the following tarts: Phyllo Leek and Cream Tarts; Caramelized Onion Tart with Parmesan; and Lemon Tart with Blueberry Sauce.

CLASS PARTICIPANTS:

Parent-child classes are for children ages 6 and up and any adult helper (18+).  If you have any questions about Parent-child classes, please contact Chef Joel.

CLASS COSTS:  

Parent-Child classes are $75 per parent-child pair, and each additional child is $35.  Costs include recipe packets to take home and all foods, equipment, and materials necessary to complete the recipes.

Parent-Child classes are held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 605 Spruce St., Madison, 53715.
