1/19 (Sat) — 9:30-11:30am — Parent and Child Phở Fundamentals
Adult-child pairs will learn the basics of making this wonderful Vietnamese soup /meal in a bowl! Phở consists of broth, rice noodles called bánh phở, herbs/seasonings, and meat. In this class, participants will make quick and flavorful versions of beef (phở bò), chicken (phở gà) and vegetable (phở chay) plus learn the recipe for the classic long-simmered broth. Location: St. Mark’s. Class Cost: $75 per parent-child pair (each additional child is $35).
1/20 (Sun) — 1:30-3:30pm — Parent and Child Baking
Fun class for parents and kids who love to bake together. This class will add to your baking repertoire with delicious new recipes and techniques for sweet and savory dishes. Participants will make and bake the following (and will get to take some home to enjoy with friends and family): On the menu: Chef Joel’s Favorite Tart Dough; Tomato and Bacon Turnovers; Phyllo Cheese Packets; Mini-Baked Corn Dogs; and Apple Wellingtons. Location: St. Mark’s. Class Cost: $75 per parent-child pair (each additional child is $35).
2/9 (Sat) — 9:30am-12:00pm — Parent and Child Valentine Sweets Shop
Valentine fun for parents/adults and kids to enjoy together! Adult-Child pairs will make, bake, and get to take home a variety of tasty Valentine treats to share with special friends or family. On the menu: Mini-Apple and Red Hot Cinnamon Dumplings; Cream Cheese Peppermint Hearts; Caramel Corn; Raspberry and Lemon Crisps; and Sweetheart Coconut Candy. Location: St. Mark’s. Class Cost: $75 per parent-child pair (each additional child is $35).
2/10 (Sun) — 1:00-3:00pm — Parent and Child Valentine Donuts
What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon—making, decorating, and eating delicious fresh, homemade Donuts with a special child! Adult-child pairs will prepare the yeast dough, then fry both cake and yeast donuts to taste and also take with and share (or not). On the menu: Cake Donuts, Yeast Donuts, Pink Valentine Donuts; and Cinnamon Sugar Donuts with Valentines sprinkles. Location: St. Mark’s. Class Cost: $75 per parent-child pair (each additional child is $35).
2/24 (Sun) — 1:30-3:30pm — Parent and Child Sliders and Fries
Go way beyond the classic burger and fries! Learn to make delicious fries out of things besides potatoes and fantastic sliders with more than just beef. In this class adult-child pairs will learn the basics of safely frying food and tips on how to “Oven Fry,” as well as how to make some great sliders. On the Menu: Chicken Parmesan Sliders; BBQ Pork Sliders; Cold Oil Cooked French Fries with Sweet Red Pepper Ketchup; “Oven Fried” Sweet Potato Sticks with Bacon Mayonnaise; and Crispy Zucchini Fries with Calypso Sauce. Location: St. Mark’s. Class Cost: $75 per parent-child pair (each additional child is $35).
3/3 (Sun) — 1:30-3:30pm — Parent and Child Mardi Gras Beignets and Profiteroles
Make delicious French pastries with a special child! In this class, Adult-Child pairs will learn to make Pâte à Choux, the pastry dough used in many classic French pastries, as well as crème pâtissière, the thick French pastry cream used for filling pastries. Also Chocolate Ganache, delicious chocolate cream used for pastry fillings and truffles, too. Pairs will then learn how to put all of these recipes together to make Profiteroles (or choux à la crème). Pairs will also learn to make Beignets, classic French-style doughnuts from New Orleans and then will get to sample a savory twist on this classic, too. On the menu: Pâte à Choux; Crème Pâtissière; Chocolate Ganache; Classic Beignets with Powdered Sugar; and Savory Shrimp Beignets. Location: St. Mark’s. Class Cost: $75 per parent-child pair (each additional child is $35).

Parent-child classes are for children ages 6 and up and any adult helper (18+). If you have any questions about Parent-child classes, please contact Chef Joel.

Parent-Child classes are $75 per parent-child pair, and each additional child is $35. Costs include recipe packets to take home and all foods, equipment, and materials necessary to complete the recipes.
