COOKING CLASSES IN MADISON

Chef Joel Olson of Hemmachef offers cooking classes in Madison, Wisconsin, and is also available to teach throughout Wisconsin.  Chef Joel offers private classes and special culinary events and can make your corporate or private event a delicious and memorable one!

Chef Joel is adept at working with students of all ages and abilities, from children to adults, and making sure that everyone has a fun culinary experience while learning useful skills. His students have ranged from 6 year-olds to senior citizens, and many classes have included a wide age range of students. Chef Joel provides participants with safe, well-organized, fun-filled instruction, and strives to maintain a courteous, fair kitchen environment.

  • Parent-Child Sushi – The Not Raw Fish Class! 9:30-11:30am

    Sushi is not just raw fish!  (In fact, in this class, no raw fish will be used.)  Adults with kids will have fun learning to prepare Dashi (Seaweed Stock for Miso Soup), along with Shari Rice (seasoned rice for making Sushi).  Participants will then learn techniques and tips on how to roll sushi in order to make California Rolls, Spicy Tuna Rolls and yes, even Wisconsin Rolls!  The meal will be rounded out with delicious Sesame Cookies for dessert.  Location: St. Mark’s.  Class Cost: $65 per parent-child pair.  (Each additional child is $30.)

    No packets of stale, skinny noodles and pouches of MSG in this class.  Kids will learn to make the noodle dough from scratch, then roll, stretch and cut the dough into fresh noodles to be boiled and enjoyed with a variety of classic ramen ingredients.  Participants will also learn to make the wonderful slow-cooked broth, with tender roast pork and eggs cooked to perfection (plus other options for those who don’t eat pork, as well as a vegetarian option).  Location: St. Mark’s.  Class Cost: $50.
