COOKING CLASSES IN METRO WASHINGTON, DC
In the Washington, DC area, Chef Joel has taught primarily at two locations:
- L’Acadamie de Cuisine in Bethesda and Gaithursburg, MD – NOTE: LADC unfortunately closed permanently in Dec. 2017.
- The McLean Community Center in McLean, VA, where he is the Executive Director of the Culinary Program – NOTE: MCC is currently closed for renovations. Culinary classes are expected to resume upon re-opening.

Classes are generally offered for these age groups:
- Children’s Cooking Classes
- generally designed for 8-12 year-olds
- Teen Cooking Classes
- designed for 13-17 year-olds
- Parent-Child Cooking Classes
- designed for children aged 6+ and their parents, grandparents, or other adult in their lives
- Adult Cooking Classes
- designed for individuals 18 and up
- Please note that classes involving alcohol may be restricted to individuals 21 and up
- designed for individuals 18 and up

Big Red Wine Dinner
Grilled Apricot Glazed Duck Breast with Baby Greens and Herb Salad (Pinot Noir); Yukon Gold Potato, Shrimp and Bacon Napoleons with Brie (Merlot); Peppered Pork Medallions with Roasted Garlic and Wisconsin Cheddar Polenta (Zinfandel); Scandinavian Sugar Cookies with Fresh Berries and Cream Chantilly. Beef Carpaccio “Old Fashioned” with Bourbon, Bitters and Candied Orange Zest; Honey Bourbon Glazed Beef Medallions with Bourbon Shallot Sauce, Mixed Mushroom Ragout, Heavenly Mashed Potatoes and Bourbon Glazed Carrots; Bourbon Bananas Fosters. Bloody Mary Brunch
Enjoy a Bloody Mary Bar! Start a Bloody Mary base of tomato Juice, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt and citrus and add any or all of the following garnishes: assorted pickles, Wisconsin cheeses, Wisconsin sausages and fresh vegetable garnishes. PLEASE NOTE: All prices listed are per person, with a minimum of 10 guests per event. All of the ingredients needed to produce each menu will be provided by Chef Joel, including wine, spirits and beer listed. If the host wishes to provide additional beverages for consumption during the event, Chef Joel will be happy to consult on wine, spirit or beer selections. Beverage selections may also be upgraded for an additional charge.
